India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 : Eligibility, Salary, Fee, Age Limit and Apply Online

The India Post GDS recruitment is for engagement as Gramin Dak Sevak, which includes BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak positions.

The notification makes it clear that GDS are not regular employees of the Department or Central Government. Their service conditions are governed by the Department of Posts, Gramin Dak Sevaks Conduct and Engagement Rules, 2020, as revised from time to time. GDS are holders of Civil Posts outside the civil services of the State and are mostly required to serve in rural areas

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process begins with preparation of a system generated merit list based on Class 10 marks.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be submitted online only through the GDS Online Engagement Portal. Applications through any other mode will not be entertained.

The application process has two parts.

Step 1: One Time Registration

Candidates need to register on the GDS Online Engagement Portal.

An active mobile number and email ID are required. Both are verified through OTP and are used for important communication and retrieval of the registration number or password.

Candidates should keep information about their Class 10 board and year of passing ready before starting registration.

Step 2: Online Application

After registration, candidates log in using their registration number and password.

The online application requires personal details, educational information, selection of Division and post preferences, photograph and signature upload, preview and fee payment where applicable.

Candidates should carefully enter their name, father’s or guardian’s name, mother’s name, date of birth and other details exactly as recorded in their Class 10 certificate.

Only one registration is permitted. Duplicate or multiple registrations are prohibited and can result in cancellation of candidature

What is India Post GDS Recruitment 2026?

It is an online engagement process for Gramin Dak Sevak posts including Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak in different offices of the Department of Posts.

What is the educational qualification for GDS?

Candidates must have passed Class 10 Secondary School Examination with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognised board specified in the notification. They must also have studied the prescribed local language up to Class 10.

What is the age limit?

The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 40 years. Applicable relaxation is available for specified categories.

What is the TRCA for ABPM and Dak Sevak?

he basic TRCA slab for ABPM and Dak Sevak is Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470.
