Overview

CEN 05/2026 is a Centralised Employment Notice issued by the Railway Recruitment Boards for recruitment to various paramedical posts.

A total of 590 vacancies have been notified across all RRBs. The largest number of vacancies is for Nursing Superintendent, with 365 posts. Nursing Superintendent

  • Candidates should have a certificate as a Registered Nurse and Midwife after passing a three year course in General Nursing and Midwifery from a school of Nursing or another institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, or B.Sc Nursing.
  • The notification also mentions certain concessions laid down by the Indian Nursing Council for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives, Midwives and B Grade Nurses. Candidates obtaining the prescribed qualification under those concessions are also eligible.

Dialysis Technician

  • Candidates need a B.Sc along with either a Diploma in Haemodialysis or two years of satisfactory in house training or experience in Haemodialysis work in a reputed institution, with proof attached.
  • The notification also states that B.Sc in Dialysis Techniques, B.Sc in Dialysis Technology and B.Sc in Renal Dialysis Technology are eligible qualifications.

Health and Malaria Inspector Grade II

  • Candidates should have a B.Sc with Chemistry as a main or optional subject in any branch of Chemistry while undertaking the course.
  • In addition, the candidate should have either a one year Diploma in Health or Sanitary Inspector or a one year National Trade Certificate in Health Sanitary Inspector awarded by the National Council for Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

Audiologist and Speech Therapist

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, known as BASLP, from a recognized University and must be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India.

Pharmacist Entry Grade

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy in Allopathic Pharmacy from a Central or State Government recognized University or Institute and be registered as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
  • A Doctor of Pharmacy from a Central or State Government recognized University or Institute with registration as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 is also accepted.

Radiographer X Ray Technician

  • Candidates should have 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry and a Diploma in Radiography, X Ray Technician or Radiodiagnosis Technology of two years duration from a recognized Institute.
  • Science graduates with the relevant two year Diploma are preferred. The notification also lists several equivalent qualifications, including specified B.Sc courses in Medical Technology in Radiography, Medical Radiography and Imaging Technology, Radiography, Medical Imaging Technology, Radiological and Image Techniques and Radiation Technology.

ECG Technician

  • Candidates should have 10+2 or Graduation in Science with a Certificate, Diploma or Degree in ECG Laboratory Technology, Cardiology, Cardiology Technician or Cardiology Techniques from a reputed institution.
  • The certificate should have a minimum duration of one year.

Optometrist

  • Candidates should have B.Sc in Optometry or a Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician. The course should be of three to four years duration.
  • The candidate should also have registration with the concerned Council or Licensing Body.

Lab Assistant Grade II

  • Candidates should have 12th in the Science stream along with either a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a qualifying Certificate Course in Medical Laboratory Technology at par with DMLT.
  • The notification specifies conditions relating to recognition of the institution, minimum one year course duration, full time training and successful completion of the examination. It also states that 12th Science along with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology is eligible

    Selection Process

    The selection process begins with the Single Stage CBT.

    Candidates are required to qualify in the CBT according to the prescribed minimum qualifying marks. Shortlisting for Document Verification and empanelment is based strictly on CBT merit, subject to the applicable qualifying marks for the candidate’s community. The minimum qualifying marks are:

    • The same qualifying percentages apply to Ex Servicemen and PwBD candidates according to their community. A relaxation of 2 marks may be provided for PwBD candidates in case there is a shortage of PwBD candidates against reserved vacancies. After the CBT, candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for Document Verification based on CBT performance. Candidates called for Document Verification must also meet the prescribed medical fitness requirements. Medical fitness is important because candidates found medically unsuitable for the opted post will not be provided an alternative appointment. The recruitment stages mentioned in the notification are therefore:
    • Computer Based Test → Document Verification → Medical Examination → Empanelment / Appointment
    • The RRB also states that selection does not by itself confer a right to appointment. The concerned Railway authority issues the appointment offer subject to availability of vacancies and fulfilment of the required conditions.

    How to Apply

    The application process is completely online. Candidates must use the application link provided through the official RRB website.

    • Candidates first need to create an account for the CEN. Those who already created an account during earlier RRB CENs can use the same credentials. A valid personal mobile number and active email ID are mandatory because OTPs are required during account creation.
    • Candidates are strongly advised to authenticate their identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during account creation. The notification says that candidates using alternate photo IDs will be subject to stricter and more detailed scrutiny.
    • After creating the account, candidates should:
    • Pay the applicable examination fee online
    • Log in through the official RRB application link.
    • Select the RRB they want to apply through.
    • Select the eligible posts and provide post and Railway Zone preferences.
    • Fill in the online application carefully.
    • Upload the required photograph and signature.
    • Select the examination medium.
    • Review the information before submission.
    • Submit the application.
