The Staff Selection Commission will conduct an open competitive examination for recruitment of Sub Inspectors in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces. The examination also includes the post of Sub Inspector Fire in CISF for male candidates.

- BSF has the highest number of CAPF vacancies in the notification with 457 posts, followed by CISF with 250, CRPF with 254, ITBP with 187 and SSB with 172.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification varies slightly depending on the post. Candidates should check the requirement applicable to the post they are applying for.
For Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub Inspector GD in CAPFs
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
- Candidates who have appeared in their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply.
- However, such candidates must possess the required educational qualification on or before the closing date of receipt of online applications.
For Sub Inspector Fire in CISF Male
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
- Alternatively, candidates must have Matriculation or equivalent along with a three year Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent examination from a recognized University, Board or Institution.
- The notification also mentions relevant higher engineering qualifications where the prescribed basic qualification requirements are fulfilled.
Additional Requirement for Delhi Police Male Candidates
- A male candidate who does not possess the required driving licence can still be eligible for Sub Inspector in CAPFs, provided he fulfils the other eligibility conditions.
- Male candidates who want to be considered for Sub Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid Driving Licence for LMV, Motorcycle and Car on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests.

Paper I
Paper I contains four sections. Each section has 25 questions and carries 25 marks.

Paper II
Paper II contains four parts.

- The duration of Paper II is 2 hours in total, with the first three parts having sectional timers of 20 minutes each and English Comprehension having 1 hour.
- The questions in both papers are objective multiple choice questions. Parts I, II and III are set in Hindi and English.
- There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper II.
NCC Bonus Marks
NCC certificate holders as on the closing date of applications receive bonus marks in both Paper I and Paper II.

- These bonus marks are added to the normalized scores.
PHYSICAL STANDARD AND PHYSICAL ENDURANCE TEST
- The Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test are important stages because they are qualifying and elimination stages.
- The PST/PET does not carry marks. Candidates must qualify in these tests to move to the next stage.
Height Standards for Delhi Police
- For Delhi Police, the standard height for general male candidates is 170 cm, with chest measurement of 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded.
- For specified hill areas and certain listed regions, the male height requirement is 165 cm. For male candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes, the height is 162.5 cm with chest measurement of 77 cm unexpanded and 82 cm expanded.
- For female candidates, the general height requirement is 157 cm. It is 155 cm for the specified hill and other listed regions and 154 cm for female candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
Height Standards for CAPFs
- For CAPFs, the general male height requirement is 170 cm with chest measurement of 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded.
- Specified hill area male candidates require 165 cm height. Male Gorkha candidates require 157 cm. Male Scheduled Tribe candidates require 162.5 cm, while specified Scheduled Tribe candidates from North Eastern States require 157 cm.
- The general female height requirement is 157 cm, with 155 cm for specified hill areas and 154 cm for female Scheduled Tribe candidates.
PET Requirements
For male candidates:

There is no minimum chest measurement requirement for female candidates.
Ex Servicemen do not have to undergo PET, but they must pass the written examinations, prescribed physical standards and medical standards.

Selection Process
The selection process starts with Paper I. Candidates are shortlisted for the PST/PET based on their performance in Paper I, including applicable NCC bonus marks.
The Commission can set different cut off marks in different parts of Paper I depending on factors including category wise vacancies and the number of candidates.
The selection stages are:
Paper I → PST/PET → Paper II → Medical Examination → Document Verification → Final Selection
PST/PET is qualifying in nature. Only candidates who qualify in PST/PET are allowed to appear in Paper II.
- Candidates are then shortlisted for the medical examination based on Paper II performance, including applicable NCC bonus marks. Medical Examination is also qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify in DME/RME and Document Verification are considered for final selection.The final selection and allocation of Post or Force are based on Paper II performance, including NCC bonus marks, and the post or force preferences submitted by the candidate.
- The minimum qualifying marks in Paper I and Paper II, without adding NCC bonus marks, are:

- Candidates must be careful while giving their post and force preferences. The preference becomes final and irreversible. If a candidate does not select a particular post or force, the candidate will not be considered for that post or force, regardless of merit.
- Candidates appointed through this examination will be on probation for two years and may have to undergo training or pass examinations prescribed by the controlling authority
