Overview

The Staff Selection Commission, SSC, has released the notice for the Combined Higher Secondary 10+2 Level Examination, 2026. The examination is being conducted for recruitment to Group C posts including Lower Divisional Clerk, LDC, Junior Secretariat Assistant, JSA, Data Entry Operator, DEO and Data Entry Operator Grade A in various Ministries, Departments and Offices of the Government of India, as well as Constitutional Bodies, Statutory Bodies and Tribunals.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have the required educational qualification depending on the post they apply for. The qualifications listed in the notification are summarized below

For LDC, JSA and DEO or DEO Grade A, except the specific DEO posts mentioned separately in the notification, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

For DEO or DEO Grade A in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

The Tier II objective sections carry 3 marks for each question, and there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Section III.

All four sections of Tier II are mandatory to qualify. Section III and Section IV are qualifying in nature.

Skill Test for DEO

For DEO and DEO Grade A posts covered under the specified departments, the Skill Test requires a speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour. The test duration is 15 minutes.For other DEO and DEO Grade A posts, the required data entry speed is 8,000 key depressions per hour, also tested over 15 minutes.

Typing Test for LDC and JSA

Candidates can choose either Hindi or English as the medium of the Typing Test while filling the online application.For English, the required typing speed is 35 words per minute.For Hindi, the required typing speed is 30 words per minute.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for OSSC CHSL recruitment follows a structured process.

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Written Examination
  3. Certificate Verification

Candidates who clear the preliminary examination will be shortlisted for the main written exam. Based on the marks obtained in the main exam, candidates will be called for certificate verification.

How to Apply

Applications for SSC CHSL 2026 must be submitted online through the new SSC website or through the mySSC mobile application. SSC Official Website

Candidates who have not generated a One Time Registration, OTR, on the new SSC website must first complete the OTR process. An OTR generated on the old SSC website will not work on the new website. Once generated on the new website, the OTR remains valid for examinations applied for through the new website.

Step by Step Application Process

  • Visit the SSC official website.
  • Complete One Time Registration if you do not already have an OTR on the new SSC website.
  • Login using your Registration Number and password.
  • Go to the Combined Higher Secondary 10+2 Level Examination 2026 section under Latest Notifications.
  • Click the Apply link.
  • Enter the required educational qualification details.
  • Provide details regarding Armed Forces or Ex Servicemen status, if applicable. Select the applicable age relaxation category, if required.
  • Select three examination centres in order of preference within the same SSC Region.
  • Select the applicable examination language and typing test medium.
  • Upload the live photograph as instructed by SSC.
  • Upload the scanned signature in JPEG format.
  • Carefully check the Preview.
  • Complete the declaration and submit the application.
  • Pay the application fee if you are not exempted.
